Asbestos Containing Materials
Some of the more unusual finds from our surveys
appear on this page and we will make regular updates to
the contents.
Most of the products featured on this page will
be in resins and therefore of very low risk. We feature
them here to demonstrate how widely used asbestos
was.

Asbestos Resin Window
Cill.
Any composite material present
in a building constructed pre 1990 should
be presumed to contain
asbestos.
During one of our type 3 surveys
in October 2004, this cill board was
sampled and found to contain chrysotile
(white) asbestos.
Being encapsulated in resin
makes it virtually risk free.

Inside this box lived an old
asbestos fire blanket. The date on the
label says 1975.
The fire blanket had been
removed, so we photographed the box for
the web site.

We often find old, redundant
incinerators in the WCs of old offices
and factories.
The incinerator doors usually
contain a very fibrous asbestos gasket
and of course, they nearly always have an
asbestos cement flue, as in this
case.
