A Harper's magazine advertisement promoting the use of asbestos fire curtains in cinemas and theatres in the USA.

Describing the curtain asa moving fire wall, the advertisement also demonstrates the many other uses of asbestos.

 

Another Johns Manville magazine advertisement showing how asbestos was used in felt roofing products.

Today, we still find examples of felt roofing that contains asbestos on many buildings.

Similartly, what the Americans call "shingles", we call tiles and again, we find many examples of asbestos derived rof tiles on UK commercial buildings. They were also widely used in domestic properties in the 1960's to the 1980's.
